Step One: Selecting the Proper CigarWhen it comes to choosing a cigar, there are two things you need to take into account: time and flavor profile. Ask yourself how much time do you have to enjoy favorite your Sr. Velázquez Cigar? The larger the cigar is, the longer your smoke will last. As for flavor profile, typically the lighter a wrapper color, the milder the smoke will be. Darker wrappers tend to have bolder, richer flavors. However, all Sr. Velázquez Cigars are mild to medium in body with layers of flavors. Perfect for newcomers and experts alike.

A cigar that is too dry or too moist will provide a less than pleasant experience. Your cigars should be kept in a proper humidor. There are many temporary solutions that will also help store your cigars for a short period. As you grow your passions for smoking, we suggest investing in a humidor.

Step Five: Enjoying Your CigarCutting Your Cigar: The necessary first step to enjoying your cigar is a proper cut. We recommend using a cigar cutter or punch to achieve the cleanest cut. It is completely your preference whether you want to use a straight cut, v-cut, punch, or any other method. However, you need to be careful not to damage the cigars cap as it is responsible for keeping your wrapper in place. As the old saying goes, measure twice and cut once. Lighting: The essence of a good smoke is a proper light. Start by rotating the end of your cigar just above the flame, this allows the foot of the cigar to be evenly primed. Priming heats up the oils in the tobacco leaves. Then, draw from your cigar while holding the flame away from the foot. Make sure to continue rotating for an even light. Smoking Your Cigar: Once your cigar is cut and lit, your only goal should be for the cigar to remain lit. The cadence of your smoke is completely up to you. The times to smoke we provide are a guide not a rule. What is most important is that you enjoy your cigar. As we like to say “ Cigars enhance the good moments in life, and make them great!” Whether your cigar is enjoyed with a nice drink or a coffee, with friends or alone. Our family at Velazquez Cigar Company, wishes you good health and a happy smoke.

What is the Difference Between Filler, Binder, and Wrapper?Cigars are a blend of carefully selected tobaccos which are rolled by hand. The proper union of these tobaccos will produce the aromas and flavors that we smokers enjoy. The three components that make up a cigar are the filler, binder, and wrapper. The filler is the innermost layer of tobacco that makes up the bulk of the cigar. The binder is a thinner leaf that holds together the filler in order to give the cigar its unique shape. The wrapper is the outermost part that gives each cigar its color. It also provides the most flavor since it comes in direct contact with our mouth. Wrappers come in many shades such as Connecticut, Natural, Habano, and Maduro.
